The Ask:
To create an app that is a companion to you and your pet’s life. A non-invasive, daily and delightful experience that meets the needs of the pet parent and puts Petco at the heart of the ‘family’ unit by empowering the customer.
Pet care decisions are emotional, high stakes, and deeply contextual. Pet parents aren’t just browsing, they’re trying to do the right thing for a valued companion.
So when Petco set out to launch their first mobile app, the opportunity wasn’t "order pet food from your phone", it was much bigger. It was a chance for Petco to build a deeper relationship with pet parents around a shared goal, the long term well being of their pets.
If we could earn trust early, we could build habit. And if we could build habit, we could earn loyalty, positioning mobile as the foundation for Petco’s broader pet care platform.
